3. As a parent or student, describe the philosophy of education of the school where you would like your children or yourself study. What do this particular school does or practices that contribute to the development of the children? What is the core of its educational philosophy? And why do you choose the school?
On this item number, I do not want to mention what particular school I want to study. It is because I am not particular with philosophies in life because I believe all of them provide chances for the development of all people. Hence, I believe all philosophies in education are good.
Instead of naming a school to which philosophy I like most, I would like to note one important thing that make me decide to where I should enroll in. I want a school that offers low tuition fee just like Central Mindanao University in Musuan, Bukidnon. Anyway, all schools are recognized by the DepEd and CHED respectively, so I better off to choose CMU. Though CMU does not focus on English Language, but the individual student tries to improve him or her. When one will apply for a job, through school matters, it is the performance that fights and contends best.
That is why I chose Mindanao University of Science and Technology for my graduate schooling. CMU, however, offers tuition fee for graduate schooling, but I have to consider also miscellaneous fees like fare. I stayed in Tagoloan so MUST is near from my house in contrast with CMU where it is too far. The bottom line is that all schools offer the benefits of the students to the real world.
My sister, to tell you a short narrative, wants to send her kids to private schools because she thinks and experiences those private schools particularly elementary and high schools provide better opportunities in the academe. However, I told her that all schools cater same chances. It is just that private schools give emphasis on academics while some public teachers, not to offend anybody, are less motivated to teach especially the old ones. On the other hand, it depends on the learners how they learn concepts and pieces of knowledge. I also told her that she should send her kids to public schools, so she can save money and time. As I theorize that proper knowledge can be attained when one reaches maturity, I influence my sister’s attitude towards education. I did it because I based everything on my experience.
When I was in college, I interviewed my classmates to where they graduated from high schools. I learned that some were from the public, and some were from the private. Not only that, I learned that both private and public schools had a close competition to be top performing students. It means that students from public schools are not felt behind.
I never say that I am not correct in all sense, but I try to be definite to whatever I say. I always base my reason or ideas on the experience I have. And yeah, I am idealistic. My perspectives in life push me through to become independent perhaps, and I am able to construct realities somewhere in my mind. I know many will argue on the issue, but I am confident enough to share my own views. I may be innocent in some ways, but one thing for sure that particular incorrectness in not found from other’s realities. In other words, many will find it erroneous because they do not like it. That is simple. Anyway, when one argues, he is entitled with his own opinion. It is the personal interpretation that makes the ideas of the people complex or complicated because no one is ever the same in terms of ideas, tastes, needs, wants, and the like.
To sum up, I am not particular in choosing what school to take because I strongly believe all schools provide the betterment of the individuals and the country. Whatever philosophy there is, it is however good for everyone. If I am wrong with this, it is just one likes it.
